Trauma & EMDR Therapy
Trauma can impact our ability to move forward. It can keep us in a state of alertness, stress, avoidance, chronic anxiety, & disconnection from self or others.
Perhaps you feel easily triggered or emotionally out of control. Or, maybe you crave chaos, because dealing with your feelings is scarier than staying engaged in hustle-culture. Perhaps you are in an abusive relationship, or abandoning yourself by putting the needs of others before your own needs to keep others from abandoning you. Maybe you’re struggling with shame or feelings of unworthiness that drive you to earn self-worth through over-achievement and workaholism. You are not alone.
You do not need to remember your trauma or have all the details to heal from it. At ATC, Trauma therapy is centered on utilizing a holistic, mind-body-spirit approach and creating a safe space for you to make meaning of your present symptoms in light of past traumatic events. We utilize both Cognitive Processing Therapy and EMDR to help clients reprocess trauma. For more on EMDR therapy, click here.
Our trauma therapy practice is about helping you heal the negative thoughts about yourself (such as feeling unworthy, damaged, or unlovable) and to help you practice trusting your feelings, your body’s cues, and trusting others. The goal is to teach your nervous system safety so than you can move forward with resilience, empowerment, and ease.
